Energy codes and standards set minimum efficiency requirements for new and renovated buildings, assuring reductions in energy use and emissions over the life of the building. Energy codes are a subset of building codes, which establish baseline requirements to govern building construction.

This module will help you understand the latest Illinois Energy Conservation Code requirements for Residential Buildings, based on the 2018 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) with Illinois Amendments. 

This online energy code training is offered on behalf of the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) and is free for community code officials, construction professionals and trades, and design professionals such as architects and engineers in Illinois.
